Emily's Castle
Emily's Castle
Uploaded By: FromScratch
This is the cake I made for my daughter's 7th birthday. A 10" square with a 6" round on top. Fondant with gumpaste accents and a fondant version of my sweet Emily. She was sooooo psyched when she woke up.. she was squealing, and that made the staying up until 3am finishing it WELL worth it. :) I am a critique group member so all feedback is appreciated.. thanks for looking.

Thanks so much everyone!! The turrets are PVC pipe with gumpaste for the cones on top that I airbrushed with gold dust mixed with vodka. The lower turrets were 3" and the top ones were 1.5". How cool is that sweetneice.. Lucky girls with Feb 23rd b-days.. Very Happy.

critique subgroup member: Very Very adorable cake! love the colors and the flags really look like they are blowing in the wind. The only thing I can see, and this is purely nit picking, is that the princess is taller than the door of the castle. overall this cake is AWESOME!

critique subgroup member: ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! I love all of the little personal details...the swirly "E" on the crest, the "7", and of course the "Emily." The door and windows are great and I love those turrets. What a magical cake for any little princess.

Did you use an impression mat for the textured walls? I love this cake! It looks perfect to me!!
February 17th, 2008
jkalman says:
Thanks again everyone!! I didn't use an impression mat for teh walls. I used a little piece of wire that I bent into a squared "U" shape and pressed it into the fondant one at a time. I just wanted the illusion of stones.
