Test Cake

Test Cake on Cake Central

I had extra batter from a sheet cake I'm doing so I decided it was a good time to try out my new toy for embossing fondant and see how it worked. Got the tip here on CC about using Wal Mart Vinyl fabric and it works great! This one is just for testing, so wasn't going all out on the design, but I love the cheap embossing trick!

It came off very easily. I didn't even need to dust it with cornstarch or use Crisco. Just rolled it out, flipped the vinyl over onto the cake and peeled the fondant off.

I love this cake!! Did you emboss before or after you placed the fondant on the cake? You really did a neat job on this! Please pm me on the answer so I don't miss it!

Thanks everyone. It's really easy to do this and cheap! I found some at Walmart in the fabric dept,, but any place that carries fabric will probably have something similar. I've seen it at Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's fabrics as well as Wal Mart. I just rolled the fondant to nearly the size I needed, then transferred it to the vinyl sheet. A couple of firm rolls and that's it! I just flipped the vinyl with the fondant still on it over the cake.

Soooo pretty and delicate! And I know you said it is cheap walmart vinyl, but I love the pattern you picked.
