How Can I Get My Frosting A Deep Deep Red :)

Anyone have any idea on how I can get my frosting a deep deep red color rather then just red
Start by coloring your white icing a deep, vibrant pink OR orange or yellow before adding any red gel. If you can stand having the icing flavored add about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon UNsweetened KoolAid powder to that. This really needs many hours to develop the color. I usually do this the night before I need the red. In the a.m. it usually will have some dark/black spots through it but don't get upset, just stir it up good and they will disappear I usually use black cherry, but any red colored KoolAid flavor will work. Then if it's still not dark enough for you just a teeny, tiny bit of black should do the trick.
Are you piping it or spreading it?
For piped icing, you mix the icing to a medium shade. Then you paint the entire inside of the icing bag/cone with paste straight from the jar. Fill the bag below the painted line, so that the deepest colour is on the outside of the icing.
