Hello
I'd like to share with you the way we made our Bubble gum machine cake!
We decorate cakes as a family thing. It's our quality time together icon_smile.gif
We started 3 years ago, and we've been learning all about it here on CC.
The birthday girl was one of the decorators icon_biggrin.gif

We started by thawing a bit the cakes we had baked and froze previously.

Image

A little bit of buttercream in a board to glue the cake to it

Some buttercream between layers

We used the dowels both to keep the layers in place and to hold the weight of the bubblegum jar

Then the crumb coat

After being in the fridge for an hour, mummy applied the final buttercream coat.

Fondant time (MMF) was for mummy! (Red MMF is extremely difficult to work with)
We made a hole in the bottom of the cake to simulate the way out of the gum balls. Some black mmf made it look deep icon_biggrin.gif

All the accents were paint with edible gold

We used a plastic jar (of olives icon_smile.gif ) to use as the machine's bowl.
Filled it with bubblegums, lid (yellow) very tight and then turned it upside down. In the bottom of the jar (now top icon_smile.gif ) we made a pretend lid out of MMF.

Carrying it to the party was very easy this way. We took it separately, and once we got to the party, we just put the jar on top of the cake.

It was a huge hit! Nobody realized it was a cake!!!
And also here on CC was very welcome.

We were so happy! icon_biggrin.gif
Thank you all!!!

Thank you for posting this tutorial! I loved your gumball machine but it was hard to visualize how you could make it so realistically. I can see it now. Very creative!

This is the jar I used. I took a walk in the supermarket and this was the one I found more appropriate icon_smile.gif
Image

It was plastic (lightness), very transparent and the right diameter size.
But you may just find something suitable at home...
