Hi everyone!

I'm going to try translating in english a tutorial I have already posted in the spanish forum: a pink fish!
And why is it pink? Because that was the only MMF color I had icon_smile.gif.

First I made a rectangular cake and then I cut it to the shape of a fish.

Then I covered the whole cake with a crusting buttercream.

Image

I put it on the refrigerator for some minutes till it crusted a little.
And then I used a paint roller to smoth it (I learn this here on CC but I lost the link)

I covered it with MMF

Shaped it

I made the tail and fins

Finally I shaded it with pearl dust to give it the final touch, and here you can see how it looked

I made it for the woman to whom I buy fish because I wanted to give her something special.
I was very happy because I could she how touched she was... icon_smile.gif

I hope you like it, and thanks for watching

Wow. That is amazing. How did you make all the scales? Using an icing tip to make the indentions?

Well, I used the most silly thing icon_smile.gif
I looked around wondering how to make it, and my eyes lied on my girls' straws . icon_biggrin.gif They have little spoons on the bottom

I am posting a picture of them here, so you can see how they are

Thank you so much, you explained in such a way that it looks doable for those of us who are still learning - now if I can just figure out how to save this! And even if I can't, I will at least be able to find it through my forum posts.

You know it's funny, my three year old neighbor is fascinated with the fish tank we have ("Can I say hi to the fishys??") icon_biggrin.gif and his little brother always asks me "did you make me a cake?" (EVERYTIME he sees me!) icon_lol.gif This tutorial comes in sooooo handy -- make a cake to look like a fish!! icon_lol.gif

For those who like pictorials and still haven't seen my other ones, I made a list of links.
If you'd care to see them, you can take a peek here:

It would be wonderful if one of them would inspire you icon_smile.gif

Somehow, all discussion threads have been mass-spammed. That post is everywhere. I flagged 2 of them and hope a moderator or someone @ CC will block that fake member.
