I'm seriously bad about buying expensive things for cake.
I've found out that most of the time it's a waste of money. Normally 9 times out of 10, the expensive stuff was more of a pain to use.
I didn't get the revelation until I met somebody from this board. She does the most gorgeous cakes, with ingenuity.
It requires for me at least, thinking outside of the box. Now, except for a couple of things I've recently purchased; I go into stores with a whole new vision.
Home Depot is sort of a favorite right now. I will be forever grateful to her. She knows who she is.
I love all these tips.. really gets me thinking outside the box... What should I donate to this cause!
-Pizza cutter for fondant
-cookie cutters
-putty knife
-kitchen shears
-Bottle caps
-cut a pringles can in half for flower forms
-coloring books (for chocolate or royal designs)
-cheap ruler
-compass & protractor
-mdf as cake boards
Can't wait to try some of the other suggestions already posted.
