Simply Stunning
This cake was created to celebrate the launch of a new line of cake stands for Sarah's Stands called "Simply Stunning." To mimic the name of the collection, I wanted to create a cake that would be simple and clean, yet modern, stylish and stunning in it's own right. The cake is hand painted with a busy gray pattern and accented with delicate orange flowers in a watercolor style. I am loving the combination color scheme of orange and gray for Summer 2013 weddings! To learn more about these cake stands visit: http://shop.sarahsstands.com/collections/simply-stunning

Autumn Aubergine
This Fall wedding cake was designed to match the invitation with a mix of 2D and 3D elements. All 4 tiers finished in smooth Swiss Meringue Buttercream and accented with fondant pieces, edible hand painted pieces and sugar peonies in 5 different shades of purple. Flavors were Triple Berry Vanilla (which has a natural lavender/mauve color and matched the wedding colors), Lovely Lemon (with lemon curd meringue buttercream), and Death by Chocolate Cake with chocolate creme anglaise buttercream.

Incredible Hulk 3D
I got the idea for this design from those cool 3D stickers where elements of them seem to pop out at you because they are raised up. I painted the hand separately from the body and placed a bit of fondant behind it so it would appear to be reaching out at you. It's 2D design that makes you think it's 3D :) Cake is finished in chocolate ganache. Double Chocolate cake inside with chocolate SMB. White chocolate hand painted fondant.

Smiles For Miles
Dr. Suess ? The Lorax! This cake was created for Miles who was turning 2. This was a call to action from Icing Smiles, Inc. I was so happy to do it, it was a very fun cake. The flavor of the cake was our TLB Sweet Monkey: Butter Vanilla Cake filled with fresh banana meringue buttercream and chocolate truffle ganache. You can read more about little Miles and his condition by visiting my FB page. TFL!

Celebrating 90 Years
This cake traveled over 1200 miles during 16 hours from Denver, Colorado to the Chicago, IL area just to be a part of a 90th birthday party for a very special lady. She was in the Navy and also worked for Coca-Cola for many years and both of those memories were very near and dear to her heart. I kept the cake rather simple to achieve a vintage feel and also because of the distance it had to travel. I hand-painted a likeness of her when she was in the Navy in her younger years, drinking a Coca-Cola, of course! The cake sits on an authentic vintage Coca-Cola crate. Bottom tier was vanilla cake with vanilla swiss buttercream (requested by the birthday girl), middle tier was Coconut and Key Lime wrapped in white chocolate ganache and top tier was gourmet PB&J - Layers of vanilla cake filled with alternating layers of triple berry buttercream and peanut butter buttercream. There were also 3 dozen cupcakes that went along with this cake.

European Style Wedding
European Style wedding cake with textured and aged effects like old-world vintage wall paintings with hand painted flowers and various sugar flowers and edible gold painted leaves. Real rosemary sprigs painted with edible pearl luster. The calligraphy style saying on the cake is: "Love is like a butterfly: the more you chase it, the more it will elude you. But if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder." Photo by: Laura Murray Photography
