The Seven Ravens (Grimm Brothers) For Cakecentral Magazine Oct 2013
Cake inspired by the Grimm Brothers fairy tale, "The Seven Ravens." It was featured in the October 2013 issue of CakeCentral Magazine. The bottom tier is ringed with fondant feathers; the middle two tiers are painted to create a water-color effect, mimicking the water in the inspiration photo by Arthur Rackham. The topper and accents at the sides of each tier are made with isomalt - poured, colored, and broken to make jagged pieces to reflect the ice castle in the story.

I Saw A Clutch On Pinterest With Folded Fabric Circles And I Thought Id Try It In Fondant I Do Realize Now That They Look Like Little Cal
I saw a clutch on Pinterest with folded fabric circles and I thought I'd try it in fondant. I do realize now that they look like little calla lillies, but I still like the effect. I cut circles in two different colors and layered them together then folded them so the inside was showing. I then layered them for the effect on the side of the cake and placed them in a circle for a type of fantasy flower on the top.

Yellow Ombre Bracket Cake
I made this cake with spring in mind, hence the sunny yellow color. It was just for fun. The decorations are all modeling chocolate. The brackets were individually cut by hand and applied in panels using Jessica Harris' wax paper transfer method. The bow on the top tier is made using her template (found on her blog or in her Craftsy class). I really love the way this turned out! And after I made it, I found I had the perfect cake stand for it - notice the bracket shapes mirrored around the edge. I couldn't have planned it better! :)

Yellow Tree Peony
This is my first peony flower, modeled after a beautiful tree peony. I put it on the top of an anniversary cake for a local cake decorating competition. The cake itself is decorated with a hand-pressed quartrefoil design around the bottom and top tiers and hand-cut quartrefoil pieces on the middle tier.

Clone Helmet
Clone Wars cake for my son's 6th birthday. I believe this is Rex's helmet. It is marble (chocolate and vanilla) cake filled and covered with dark chocolate ganache and fondant. Fondant and "painted" details. I must admit, I'm not super happy with the painting. It was my first time doing it. I was super happy with the carving, though. The whole thing is carved from a 12-inch round.

Fitness Cake
Kettlebell and Weight Plate cakes I made for the opening celebration of my friend's gym. The kettlebell is 6- and 8-inch rounds carved with a wire and rice krispy treat handle secured to the cake by wooden skewers. It is dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate ganache and fondant. The weight plate is a single layer 10-inch red velvet cake with cream cheese SMBC and fondant.
