Rubik's Cube And Jacks Cookies
A late submission to the September Cookie Club -- the theme was toys and games. The Rubik's Cube is 3 stacked chocolate sandwich cookies with fudge buttercream filling and fondant squares. The buttercream piped jacks have dragees on the ends. The rubber ball is fondant.

Golf Cookies
These were made for appreciation gifts associated with an event at my son's school. Inspired by (and not nearly as good as!) theprincesskim's wonderful golf-themed cookies. I did not end up using the ones with the holes in them -- although I loved the idea of them, my glaze was too thin and they did not turn out the way I wanted. I'm including them here in case someone is inspired to do an improved version!

Tennis Sheet Cake
A cake for my son, who is on his high school's tennis team. The design matches the birthday card we gave him. He likes a chocolate sheet cake with a specific pour-over icing... tried to hide as much of that mess with the fondant designs as possible! He smiled when I told him that the score was 15-love because he is 15 and we love him! (Tee hee!) He promises I can do a more elaborate cake when he has a party with his friends when school is out.

Alice In Wonderland Cake
Alice in Wonderland cake embellished with quotes from the book: "Off with her head!" on the black ring, "All mimsy were the borogoves..." on the blue tier and "Curiouser and curiouser!" on the green tier. I thought it would be cool to do the whole cake in the shape of the queen chess piece. Only the bottom (green) tier is cake; the other tiers are rice krispie treats. Alice is a mixture of gumpaste and fondant; everything else is fondant.

Zoo Animals
These are made of modeling chocolate and candy clay. The tiger tastes like orange sherbet, the camel tastes like butterscotch, the giraffe is mostly vanilla, and the zebra is chocolate. Made for a coworker's grandchild's birthday -- she is going to make or buy the cake herself; I am just making the little figures. If I were baking, I would make at least one layer a zebra cake -- see second picture. (That was a "test cake" I made for this project, when I thought I might also be baking the cake.)

Tinkerbell With Girly Bugs
My coworker wanted a cake for her daughter that had Tinkerbell and "girly bugs". All cake with fondant decoration and gumpaste butterflies, underside of mushroom, and name (well-dried gumpaste was painted with corn syrup and then sprinkled with sugar). Tink is a plastic figure in order to be legal!

Edward Gorey Style Cake
Inspired by the peculiar pen-and-ink stylings of artist Edward Gorey. This cake was really just an excuse to play with Sugarveil -- I'd never used it before. The figures are a 50/50 mix of fondant and gumpaste. Posts are Pringles Stix coated in candy melts. The tree is dyed spaghetti, held together with extruded ropes of fondant in the trunk area. The spider webs and cake "backgrounds" are the Sugarveil. Happy Halloween!

Owl Refrigerator Cookie
I was tired of iced cookies, but I still wanted to do a cute design, so Icame up with this idea. This owl is a brown-sugar refrigerator cookie, with a cashew beak and maple buttercream (holding the eyes, wings, and beak in place). I got the owl shape by using an egg-shaped cutter and then using a small circle cutter to remove some dough from the top of the egg. Used a leaf cutter for the wings. Eyes were just slice-and-bake. Used brown food coloring on half the dough to get the two-tone effects.

Twilight Saga Cake
This is actually two cakes in one -- one side is for "Team Edward" and the other is for "Team Jacob". The wolf and driftwood are modeling chocolate; the flower petals and bracelet links are gumpaste; the moon, motorcycle scenes, La Push beach scene, footprints, black piano keys, lace, "marble" and Quileute inspired sun art are all fondant; dirt and colored beach-rocks are chocolate candy . The white piano keys are candy melts. Edward's side is dusted with edible glitter. I tried my hand at mold-making and sugar casting for the heart-shaped diamond BUT it came out too yellowed and cloudy for my satisfaction, so the diamond is non-edible (glass). One of my favorite aspects of the cake is that the top tier is a checkerboard cake, inside.

8Th Grade Graduation Pin
This cake was for a graduation party, and is a replica of the pin that the kids received and wore on their graduation gowns. (Was going to do a grad cap cake until I found out the kids do not wear those for 8th grade ceremonies around here.) The school colors are all around the sides. My first gumpaste rose, which was like the ones the boys wore on their lapels.

Pinata Cookie
Ever since I saw bonniebakes' Cinco de Mayo cookies posted on CC, I wanted to make my own pinata cookie! (Hope it's okay! Thanks for the inspiration!) Made for a Mexican-food-themed potluck at work. Sorry for posting, deleting, then reposting... I wanted to post a better picture of it.
