Tufted Billow Weave Mother's Day Cake
3 layer Lemon Sour Cream Pound cake with raspberry and butter cream filling, butter cream on the outside and lemon/butter/vanilla flavored mmf on the outside. Buttons were made from a mold that I made and I used gum paste for them. The little name card was made from gum paste and I got the idea from a fellow caker named Shirley Wilson (thank you Shirley)! I also covered the cake board with gold fondant then air brushed gold onto it to match. The flowers are silk.

Pleated Bronze And Copper Cake
This is a 3 layer Chocolate Mayonnaise cake filled with real butter butter cream vanilla icing and covered with Chocolate MMF. After covering the entire cake with vanilla butter cream, I cut strips of rolled chocolate fondant into 2" wide strips and started laying them onto the cake. Once I was done, it looked like a cake covered in tootsie rolls, which I did not like, so I used bronze sheen and air brushed the whole thing to get away from the tootsie roll look. I wanted it to have a fabric 'feel' to it, so I went with ribbon roses made with copper colored fondant, and then colored fondant with a combination of yellow and brown for the ribbon at the bottom. I love texture, so I rolled the fondant over a real cloth ribbon for some texture, then painted it all with pearl sheen liquid air brush color, and then added the tiny copper flowers onto the ribbon. The big ribbon leafs are colored with avocado food paste. Thanks for looking!

Victorian Elegance
Well, this is still a cake in progress. I finally got the two bottom tiers done. The flowers I placed on the bottom tier are not complete, but I wanted to get a pic up so that you can see how far I have gotten. The flowers are added because I have a nice big thumb print and fingernail marks exactly where I placed the flowers. They weren't part of the plan, because I HATE making gum paste flowers with a passion. Anyway, you get the drift of what I am trying to accomplish here and hopefully it will stay nice for our September cake show. You asked what I had used to make it so shiny and pearly. There is a line of premixed colors that are made specifically for airbrushing and the ones that I used were made by Americolor, and the color I used all over the cake was Pearl Sheen. I also used pink sheen on the 3rd tier down before adding that tier to the 4th tier, but I don't think I actually had to use it, because when I did the 4th tier, I went up around the pink tier with the pearl color and it didn't seem to distort the pink sheen. I had used pink fondant on that tier anyway, so I think I could have just used the pearl on all of it and the pink still would have been pink that had been pearlized. There are so many colors in this box that I bought, you would not believe, and they all have a pearl sheen to them. No mixing, just use right out of the bottle. I love them! Well, I see my links didn't show up in a thread. Here is the link to the originator of the second tier technique: http://www.susantrianoscakes.com/tufted-billow-weave-dvd/ . Work In Progress
This is a dummy cake that I am working on for our September show in our area. The top tier is brushed embroidery using royal icing and the next tier is the tufted billow weave technique. I plan on adding two more tiers soon and will update the photos then. This is MMF and I airbrushed both cakes with super pearl sheen.

Challenge Project For Cake Club
Our theme this year for our cake show is Under The Big Top, so to make sure we had something for our theme, we all made clowns for one of our challenge projects this year. He was a lot more fun to make than I thought he would be and I was pretty pleased with how he turned out. =O)

Ruffles And Pearls
This is a WASC cake that I divided the batter in half and colored one half electric pink and the other half left white. Then I spooned in the center of each pan one color then the next until I was out of batter so that it would create a zebra striped pattern when cut into. The icing is good old fashioned butter cream made with real butter and Crisco. The roses in between each set of ruffles at the bottom of the cake is made from fondant pressed into a rose mold and then dusted with orchid luster dust. The pearls are fondant as well with super pearl luster dust. I also used small and large dragees on this cake. The ruffles are made with a rose tip, and the zigzag patterns are made with star tips. The pink on top was made with a small star tip and over piped on the white border. I'll add another picture so that you can see the top better.

I created this cake for a drawing that I had on my Facebook page, and the winner received this cake. It is an almond sour cream white cake filled with butter cream and covered with fondant. The Valentine girl on top is made from fondant and gum paste mix, and is hand painted free hand. All decorations that are piped are made from Royal Icing and the large red roses on top are royal icing, but the buds are gum paste. all of the piping was painted with super pearl luster paint but it does not show up in the picture. Thanks for looking!

Chloe's Hearts
I had a birthday cake request from a eleven year old girl who wanted her birthday cake to look like a wedding cake. I have been practicing on string work with these hearts and royal icing and decided to go ahead and use the ones I had on hand to give her a little WOW punch to her cake. The actual cake is white cake with almond flavored butter cream inside and out. The roses are made from gum paste. Thanks for looking!

Triple Chocolate Cappuccino Sour Cream Pound Cake
Birthday cake made for my brother-in-law who only likes chocolate cake. This one fits the bill for him. The cake itself is to die for. The inside filling is a cooked flour/milk icing and it is also what is piped on the very top of the cake in the cream/white. The sides are stripes using the star tip alternating with white, black cocoa butter cream, and cappuccino butter cream icing. I used a Makin's plastic texture sheet that has diamond design on it to make the chocolate wedges around the base of the cake. It's a birthday cake, but I consider it more of a dessert cake.

Let It Snow!
Three tier Christmas Party cake for my husband's work party. Top tier is red velvet, middle is white sour cream, and the bottom is dark chocolate. Some snowflakes were hand formed, and some were from cookie cutters, and some were pressed with gum paste cutter/press. A ton of white disco dust and luster dust was on this cake. Unfortunately, it does not show up in the picture as dramatically as it looked in person. :o(

Have Mercy Thanksgiving Turkey
I made this little guy for our monthly challenge for the cake club that I belong to. It is our November challenge, and obviously, it is turkeys in any medium. This little guy is made from fondant and a little bit of gum paste for the brim of his hat and the sign. I wanted to make sure they would get hard. The sign handle is a toothpick, and I used a dowel inside of the body to support his neck. Everything else is fondant or gum paste. I painted the buckle on his hat with edible gold mixed with Everclear. He was so much fun to make. Link To tutorial. cccbylinda.blogspot.com
