Under The Big Top!
Kitagrl and CakeInfatuation have merged and we're opening our shop late Spring early Summer. We entered our first competition as a team on Monday, April 2, 2012 at City of Hope's annual Let Them Eat Cake Competition in Philadelphia. We won Most Artistic, Best use of Theme (under the big top), and Audience Choice. There were 5 available awards. We have TONS more photos on our facebook page including the process of building the cake.

Champagne Bottle And Gift Box 21St Birthday Cake
Made for a client's daughter that turned 21. They wanted a Champagne bottle that was "feminine". I made the mold with the help of my dh, poured sugar for the bottle, and hand painted the detail. The gift boxes have royal icing detail and gumpaste flowers.

Melted Snowman S'more Cookies
Last night I tried making Marshmallows for the first time. I'll share photos of the actual "marshmallow's" later. But in keeping with tradition, I had to try making snowmen out of marshmallows BUT I wanted them to be REALLY tasty. So I took some graham crackers, split them in 1/2, and cut off the sharp corners. Then I dipped them in milk chocolate. After they cooled, I made homemade marshmallows, and piped the marshmallow onto the prepared graham cracker. Once they set up for a bit, I got my royal icing together and decorated them. And of course, I'm a fan of glitter, so I made them sparkle with a little rainbow disco dust. (totally optional, but for me, it's a sickness! lol). I'll put together a tutorial later. And let me tell you, I'll NEVER be able to stomach a standard s'more ever again. My husband LOVES these and my 6 year old ate one for breakfast! ha ha ha (Shhhh... don't tell)

Pink Bat Mitzvah
Can I tell you how badly I wanted to curl up and live on one of the tables in the venue with all those gorgeous flowers surrounding me? lol So unbelievably pretty! I can't even imagine throwing a party like that. But I was certainly impressed with the decor. And thankful that the cake coordinated as well as it did. :)
