I'm making a bridal shower cake next month and I wanted to practice with MMF *before* the weekend of the event (imagine that!), so I threw this together last week just to see what it's like to work with MMF. Of course since I chose to practice with a baby shower theme (and took the cake to work so that I wouldn't eat it), and one of my coworkers is having a baby shower in two weeks, guess who just got asked to make a cake for the shower? ;-)

This was patterned after one I saw on CC or another site. The color is really a hot pink for a girl instead of red!

2, 8" round cakes of French Vanilla, filled and iced with buttercream. The arms are also cut from another 8" cake. Diaper, feet, ears and facial features are all fondant, ribbons are real. Taken from the 2004 Wilton yearbook. The hostess said it was "Too cute to cut!" Gotta love that!

This was my first dabble with fondant. The cake is covered with buttercream and the rest is fondant. I didnt have any tools other than a knife. I think I might invest in some tools next time.
What do you think?

Here is the camo baby shower cake that has been designed and redesigned in my head over the last two weeks. Tried the sprays for the camo effect then ended up using buttercream. The blanket is made out of fondant.

Saw a picture of a cake similar to this one in a older Wilton book. Loved it and decided to try it! Made this to go with three sheetcakes for a huge baby shower!

I did three sheet cakes like this one (total feeding about 300) to go with the white and pink cake with baby in bassinet on top! Lots of work but fun to do!!!

I made this cake for a friend of mine - we served it at her shower. It was supper easy b/c it's one of the molded pans. But, none-the-less, it turned out pretty good.

This is a cake that I jsut decorated for a coworker's baby shower. It was decorated to match the baby shower decorations (specifically the napkins) which you will be able to see in the next picture. For the sake of time, we "cheated" by getting a Costco cake that was just frosted with plain white and I took it home and decorated it. It sure made my life easier!

Made foe a friend's Bridal Shower. I am not pleased with them.. but that could be because of the DRAMA surrounding their getting made... The Bride and Groom (and everyone else at the shower) however LOVE LOVE LOVED them!!! Yeah! And this was my first PAID order! YIPPEEE!!!! I got called so they could tell me how yummy they were! All green and pink and two minis are chocolate with strawberry/rum cream filling, the white center is a BROWNIE (for the groom who hates cake). All BC icing. Roses are striped!

Made this Cake for my new great nephew and his mom. Wasn't as happy with it as I would have liked as I thought it looked more like a bed than a basinet. Considering I made it the morning of the shower as I had no notice, I never had time to make changes. My neice loved it though and everyone at the Shower made nice comments about it.

I don't claim to be a pro, just a beginner, but I really like the look of the patchwork cakes. I've done these for birthdays, my dad turned 50 and I put a candle in each of the blocks, and I've used them for baby showers. I like the little favors in the blocks, I've also used candles that said BABY SHOWER in the middle of the cake, and those were really cute.

I made this for my SIL's baby shower. Used a standard sheet pan and trimmed half of the Wilton ball pan. Fondant body and dress. Cake crumbs for hair. I had already made 2 of these years before. Even won 2 blue ribbons in a motherÂs day amateur cake decorating contest, though there weren't many entrees, lol.

This is a cake made in the Wilton guitar pan and made to look like a baby rattle and then stacked on a 12"x18" sheet cake. Everything is fondant and the sheet cake was airbrushed yellow.

This was my firs attempt at a layer cake and my first time using rolled fondant. I stacked the layers with mini cupcakes also rolled in the fondant. Lemon cake with rasberry/buttercream filling. Tasted great. I'll have to keep practicing on the decorating.

This was my very first (no directions) stacked cake. I made it for a friend for her baby shower, she originally had given me a photo of a wedding cake on fondant in this was my version of that because I did not how to work with fondant yet. My friend wanted it to look like stacked gifts, and wanted the 3 pearl design throughout the gifts. I love using real ribbon so I cut small pieces and inserted them vertickally to make it looked like a wrapped figts. Froisting is vanilla whipped cream & piped dots.

After taking Class I 21 years ago, I decided to go back and finish the rest of the Wilton courses so I could learn to work with fondant. This was my first experience doing a complete cake in fondant and I really liked it!

Did these for an order today, every time I make petit fours I'm reminded of just how much time they take. The only requests were pink with yellow, and baby shower-ish.

I've been dying to make this cake. Ever since I say the one done by llee on this site it's been one of my favorites. I have to say her onesie and booties are better than mine but I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out for my first try. The writing is painted on with silver luster dust and the booties are painted with pearl luster dust.

I did this for a friend's baby shower. I decided to use purple instead of pink (for a girl!) since pink and blue are so traditional! Obviously...if you look at my smoothing and borders...you'll see I'm an amatuer. The cradle and stars and moon are done with chocolate. Moon has been brushed with luster dust. Thanks for looking!
