This was my final cake from the last Wilton class. The icing is a combination of buttercream with fondant top and swags. I used artificial flowers. I was pretty proud of myself that I could creat such a cake after only beginning a few months before.

This is an old picture I found - I did this as my final cake in the Wilton training classes I took at Hobby Lobby. Look familiar anyone?? I think everyone makes the same one! :o)

This pic is a little better than the one I submitted for the contest. At least you can see the colors better. the teacher's desk and accessories and the student tables are fondant, all books, stools and the chalkboard are royal icing. I used wooden dowels cut to size for the table legs and lollipop sticks for the chalkboard and stool legs.

This was the first wedding cake I have ever done. I have not had a chance to take any classes yet and that's why I love this web site so much lol. You can't really see it...but above the bottom border is a flower border that was very pretty. And for the record I will never use a cake stand like this again....very unstable....espescially the top tier.

This is the first wedding cake that I did in class. I'd love to get some honest opinions. One day I hope to own my own business. I used fondant and real flowers.

This is the final Wilton I cake I did this week. The cake is Devils Food with extender and the filling is chocolate marshmellow. I LOVEd making the roses. I was really stressing out before the class. It looks so comlicated int he book. While it is certainly not easy, the explanation from the instructor made it easier to understand..Unfortunately not easier to do! LOL! Anyhoo..here it is.

This is the final cake for class 3. My instructor was wonderful! The cake is orange with buttercream frosting, covered in fondant. The roses and leaves are all fondant. It was fun putting this together.

Class 1 final cake. The flowers turned out ok, but I had trouble placing them without getting them all squished. Before now, I've always air dried or frozen them, but this time I had to use scissors, I dropped them... a lot. My bow looked better before I dropped a bunch of flowers on it. I think next time I would wait until the flowers are placed to make the bow.

This is a similar cake to the final project of Class II. I think I should have put some flowers at the bottom too to give it more color. I bought a cake leveler and it came out perfect. I am pleased with how this one turned out. (Not as lopsided as my class cake) I know I messed up on the basket weave, but I think I'm getting better!

This was my first fondant cake from my Wilton Class 3. I can tell that I need a LOT of practice to get the fondant smooth but I can see how this is something that I'd like to work with more in the future.

10" bottom cake is yellow/chocolate marble and 8" top cake is devil's food chocolate. Both are covered with rolled BC (first time using it--mostly loved it). Roses are fondant...leaves, dots, and attempt at border are BC. Can't figure out ruffle border...anyone got any advice to help me?
