Hi Cakeymom, the flowers are stencilled using a stencil from Designer stencils. You secure the stencil to the cake and rub over a very thin layer...

This was a gift for my friends wedding. All the teirs are cake dummies except for the top. I made all the chocolate sea shells and dusted them with pearl dust. All the real shells are from my moms own collection she picked up on the beach. Everyone loved this cake and had NO IDEA it was fake. The reason for making it fake was because I helped out at the church and that the travel time from my house was about 2 hours. I had sheet cakes in the kitchen for them to cut. French vanilla torted with red rasberry.

This was my most nerve racking cake. And my 2nd wedding cake. I made all the flowers out of Royal frosting and set them on my porch to dry. Late at night I smelled a skunk and it happened to spray close by and stunk up all the flowers. I had to start all over again.

My husband has just completed an 8 week (16hrs only) beginners course in cake decorating. This is the cake he made and finished during the course. The types of flowers made were the same by all the students... no choice but the design and presentation was up to each individual... not bad for his first go I think

Frosted with BC with no top border, which was a bear! I used Rolled Fondant for the hearts on the sides sprinkled with glitter. I used hidden pillars and there are 2 dummies, which made assembling at the hall easier. This is my first and only Straight Stack. The flowers are fresh and were placed by the florist.

I was so frustrated with this cake. The icing in-between the layers of the top tier kind of oozed out of one side. So I had to smooth it out upon delivery. My icing would not get smooth. I used the VIVA paper towel and that would not help. The bride wanted off white with light pink roses. My MMF pearls were darker than the icing. URHHHH! I am just glad that is over. Overall, I guess it was okay for my first wedding cake.

This was my first wedding cake. I used the article from here on how to make edible butterflies but I used Vellum paper instead.

I am very sorry about the pic-It is the only one I have! The wedding cake is all yellow with all buttercream icing with royal (not navy) blue trim. The "grooms" cake is white with french vanilla icing done with the same trim. It is what the bride wanted and she could not be talked out of it! =) I am actually almost ashamed to post this next to all these gorgeous cakes, but...

A friend of mine had her wedding at the beach this past weekend. This is my first wedding cake and the only picture that I have. She will give me better pictures later. I like making 3-d cakes or novelty cakes better.

This was a suprise gift for my best friend & her husband. The cake is chocolate & white swirled together. The icing is white & choco butter cream. This was my 1st attempt at string work & is not all that great. I was experimenting with different tips, not really knowing what to do with them! The picture is a edible photo of them cutting the cake on their wedding day. This cake was done in a few hours with no prior preperation or an idea of what to make!

I made this for an engagement party. Chocolate fudge cake with vanilla buttercream and vanilla Satin Ice fondant. Bows made with Satin Ice and brushed with luster dust for a shimmer. Rosebuds matched the flower arrangements at the party.

This was my first wedding cake that I did for my SIL so that she would have a cake. I'd been wanting to brave up and try one, and so since I volunteered to do this one as a gift, I figured that they were'nt losing any money on it. The setting up was all new to me, and I was so tired of seeing the little swirls before it was finished, but I was pleased for a first attempt. The cake is all buttercream and the swirls are royal icing. The flowers are from a candle ring from the $ Tree.

This is a cake I made for a friend's wedding. My 3rd wedding cake. Heart shaped tiered cake with four heart shaped satellites, accented with fresh pink roses, baby's breath and greenery. Sorry about the quality of the photo, it was taken about 8 years ago, before digital cameras were an option for everyday people like me!

After taking Class I 21 years ago, I decided to go back and finish the rest of the Wilton courses so I could learn to work with fondant. This was my first experience doing a complete cake in fondant and I really liked it!

My first wedding cake attempt, as well as my first upload on this site. Please leave feedback. The cakes were two layer with bc icing and fresh flowers on top. There are swirls on the sides with a leaf border on top and a bead border on bottom. The flowers were done by the florist to coordinate with the bouquets.

I thought the idea of leaves as nameplate cookies was perfect for this time of year. The wedding's colours were silvery blue and white, so we did 2 shapes of leaves in those colours...one for men one for women.
