I'd like to take credit for the roses, but they are pre-made gumpaste roses. They come as sprays, on this one I just took them apart and arranged them the way I wanted.
I love the carving technique you did. It looks so cool! What did you use to carve out the buttercream and how deep did you carve it? Did you paint the just the gel with gold or the whole indentation? This is such a gorgeous, unique cake!
Thank you all for the wonderful comments-to answer a few questions, the carving was done with a rose tip on the tip of my index finger. The gel was piped in and then painted with the gold. Buttercream strip was first put onto an acetate sheet, spread smooth , then attached to bottom of cake. Hope that helps
