3-D Fire Truck Cake

3-D Fire Truck Cake on Cake Central

This is a 3-D Fire Truck iced in red and gray bc. Top extension ladder, side ladders, folded hoses, front grill and reeled hose are royal icing. Windows, FD crest, dials and knobs are color flow. The wheels are chocolate donuts with nonpariells for hub caps. The custom made cake base is raised 1" on a black pedastal to provide the illusion that the truck is riding on its donut wheels

This has got to be one of the best I've seen! I'd like to try to attempt this for my son's 3rd birthday - could you possibly email me some instructions? Just a beautiful (and delicious looking) cake!!! [email protected]

I made a kit for making this cake. I gave the kits to my Course 2 graduates as a bonus project. The store I teach in sells them now. I also sell the kits on ebay.

my husband is a firefighter and I would love to make it. Can you e-mail me the instructions and where to but the kit. How did you do the silver bumper and edge around the truck? Great job. thank you [email protected]

If I want a darker red, I sometimes add burgundy in small amounts (has a bit of a purplish tint to it so I don't overdo it). If you make your own fondant (Colette Peters recipe is great) color the liquid first, before mixing it with the sugar. If you are coloring prepared fondant, try starting with the tinted ...

when i saw the thumbnail on the homepage I had to do a doubletake and click on it 'cause I just watched the Ace of Cakes episode where he did the fire engine for charity, and I thought either Duff posted his pic on here or someone stole it :)) That looks fantastic- really smooth for BC- I could only hope to get my BC HALF that smooth in this lifetime
