Cake Show Entry

Cake Show Entry on Cake Central

This was my entry for the Austin cake show. It's made with 4", 6", 9" round dummies that are 5" high. The flowers and bow are gumpaste and the piping is done with royals icing. Thanks for looking.

One question: how do you get the very high lustre on the ribbon? Do you apply the lustre dust with alcohol or lemon juice or with a dry brush? What dust did you use?

Wow. Thanks everyone. :) I did win 2nd in my division but unfortunately there were only four cakes entered. But they were really good cakes.

This is so beautiful. One of the most beautiful wedding cakes on here. Very elegant. I agree it should be on the cover of Martha stewart weddings.

there is such beautiful attention to detail in this cake! from the shading in the roses to the intriquite scrollwork, from the horizontal perfection of the bow ribbon, to the precise painting. i love the combo of the quilting and scrolls. its very elegant, the colors work great together and its nice and clean. beautiful, beautiful cake.
