The "stand" is an actual lamp base w/ a board screwed into the top. I used a form but you would bake the cake in a bowl & cover w/fondant. I drew out the design using the smallest end of the gumpaste tool set & I used the pin prick method for the lighthouses b/c there was too much detail. I was told a toothpick would work though also. I then hand painted the whole thing in luster dust & molded the finial in fondant. I added the finial once it was dry and then piped the"leading" around the cake.
Great idea! Love the "cake stand", very well done!
Wow! Fabulous!

Thank You Everyone!! ~Omicake~ The lighthouse on top is made of fondant and doweled down into the "shade" through another round piece of fondant.
Wow, that's neat! Your "stained glass" work is amazing!
Please share with us how you did this and what you made the "stand" out of.
Wonderful!!! Is the lighthouse part of the cake lamp shde?
Wow! :D :D :D
