thanx for your comments . . . first cake since he was a little boy . . . first wedding cake ever . . . it was an outdoor wedding and they released butterflies as part of the ceremony . . . they had matching bands incorporating dogwood flowers/leaves hence the cake theme . . . thanx again for your lovely comments

Really beautiful! What kind of border idd you use on the top and bottom layers? It's very delicate and perfect - it doesn't draw any attention away from the flowers and butterflies. Also, did you use a mold for the butterflies?

I cheated and used a fabric trim for the border (my piping leaves much to be desired - and the trim was perfect - it matched the ivory fondant to a T) . . . the bottom (green) butterfly was done with a cookie cutter, while the top (coloured) butterfly was done with a patchwork cutter . . . :wink:

This is beautiful! I love dogwoods. Now that is a very interesting stand. I've never seen one where the supports were on opposite sides.
