Pirate Ship
I made this pirate ship cake for my daughter's fourth birthday. The characters (Backyardigans) are hand molded out of fondant.

Awwwwe!!! It's perfect! I love it. It looks just like the episode. :D
how very adorable - it's wonderful! Ooh I wish you had a step by step on how to do it! I can't believe those figures - I thought they were plastic toys! and how did you do those sails? I like yours a lot more than my pirate ship!
Too fun!!! Great job!!! I want to try one of these but have not the occasion to yet...hopefully soon! :)
great job.
OMG!! My grandson would love this!! What a wonderful job!
Very cute cake and very well done!!
That is an awesome cake!!! :D
What a nice cake! (What is choclate paste? Is that what you put on your bread? I'm new to cake making... :) )
Clay! I mean clay!
Well done! What did you use for the water effect? The characters are true to the cartoon - so realistic!
terrific job!!
Very cute! Much better than the one I did, I think!
alittlesliceofhaven - The water is white fondant slightly unevenly colored blue for a slightly marbled effect. It is then painted with an uneven coat of piping gel to give the effect of ripples in water.
Wow this looks awesome...I thought the Backyardigans were plastic too... however did you get them to look so real? Beautifully done ;-D
Great job! What an adorable idea!
soooooo cute!!!! I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!
TeeBeeWee - Chocolate clay is also what is called candy clay. it is a mixture of melted chocolate and corn syrup. I like the taste of chocolate clay better than fondant. You can find the recipe for candy clay right here at cakecentral under recipes, keywork 'candy clay'

Could you tell me what you would charge for a cake like? How many people did this cake feed, EXCELLENT job :)
sweetdesignsbyla - After feeding about 40 people there was plently of cake left. I make cakes for my family only. It is a hobby not a business. So I have no idea what I would charge for a cake like this. But i should add that this cake was a lot of work, way beyond what I expected.
This is darling! You did a fantastic job!
