Hearts & Roses 25Th Anniversary

Hearts & Roses 25Th Anniversary on Cake Central

6" & 12" heart shaped cakes decorated with buttercream icing. The sides are decorated with RI, the beads are buttercream. All silver items are painted with Luster Dust. I made the roses, leaves and baby's breath from gumpaste. Thanks to Sweetgurl for the inspiration from her gorgeous cake.

Thank you all so much for the compliments. It makes it all worth it. It took 1 1/2 weeks to make all the roses. I piped the beads on "very slowly" with a #3 tip. A #2 might have been better but it's harder for me to work with.

Oh yeah ~ to make the gumpaste roses I used the Wilton gumpaste book (the one sold here on CC) with the tools that come with the book/kit.

Actually you might not need as much practice as you think. This was only my third attempt at gumpaste. My first time was awful. I think the trick is to get the petals as thin as possible.

Beautiful, beautiful roses, very realistic! Beautiful work!! I have the Wilton kit but have been "chicken" to sit down and go thru it - now I'm motivated to see what I can do.

I know this is not one of the last ten, but had to stop on this cake and tell you how lovely it is even with the little oops on the bottom tier icing. Your flowers are stunning!
