A Better View Of Busy Bee Cake.

A Better View Of Busy Bee Cake. on Cake Central

This is my first attempt at rolled buttercream. The cake is lemon chiffon cake and white chocolate -raspberry filled with lemon rolled b/c. The bee and beads are rolled b/c and the flowers and stems are b/c. This is a 6 inch practise cake so feel free to leave me any ways to improve it!

I am so interested in rolled buttercream! Will you do it again? How do you like it compared to MMF? BTW very cute cake-I love the bee's little feet;)

I really like the r/b/c and I actually got my husband to taste it and he loved it. He hates all other fondant type coverings. So this may be an alternative covering for those who don't like fondant. I liked it and it is a little more harder to manage then MMF because it requires you to be more gentle and I would roll it out thicker than MMF to cover especially. And thanks for all the nice things said.

great job is the rolled buttercream hard to make and work with . I would like to try it I don't like the taste of fondant at all.

tdun- it's deff a better tasting medium to work with. It is a little difficult till you get used to it. It is alot easier to tear and needs to be thicker rolled for covering. Plus I think 3d molding wouldn't work as well as it is a softer consistancy than regular fondant or even MMF. But deff worth a try. I used the rolled butter cream recipe off of here and it was pretty simple. I might try adding a little gumpaste and see if that makes it better for molding......
