Jerry's Graduation on Cake Central

Another one from the beginning when my husband got his masters. Freehand piping was horrible...and hasn't improved much. This is a red velvet with the old-fashioned icing, which is why the smoothness looks funny. The icing was non-crusting. Top of cap is black Wilton fondant over cake board cut as a square. Scroll is fondant with gold dust on the edges.

I completely understand trying to get that cooked icing smooth-it just doesn't work well but it's SO yummy! Nice job.
