Cake For Mum

Cake For Mum on Cake Central

This cake Ive made for my mum. She loves roses. I had terrible trouble with the buttercream so the squiggly lines were an attempt to cover up the horrid icing job it did! I need to say a BIG thank you to Sweet_as_tisse who let me bombard her with questions about flowers and cake jewellery over the last two nights! This is nothing like what I had planned but then most of my cakes take a dramatic twist somewhere along the line! (dont want to make another rose for a very long time!)

This absolutely stunning! I know your Mum really enjoyed it! And yes, the squiggly lines did add more of an impact. ;-D

The roses are fondant, and the pearls are threaded onto wire and twisted at the base of the pearl so you only see the top of the pearl. Hope that made sense? If you need any further info happy for you to PM me :)

This is one of THE lovliest cakes I've ever seen! I'll save it as inspiration. I recently bought a kit to make them and want to try some soon. This is just stunning. Wow!!!

it's a blessing in disguise you had a difficult time with the icing because i thought the squiggly lines were part of your original plan making your cake unique and looking great! the roses... breathtaking!

This Lindy Smith design is one of my favourite from her 'Celebrate with a Cake' book - I've always wanted to do it, and you did a great job!

This cake is made beautifully with the squiggly lines and the beautiful roses. The "dramatic twist" as you call it yielded beautiful results.
