Christmas Holly (Brush Embroidery) And Pine Cake

Christmas Holly (Brush Embroidery) And Pine Cake on Cake Central

This was our family holiday cake. White almond sour cream cake with BC icing. The holly leaves were done in brush embroidery and the pine was just piped on. I forgot the center vein detail on the holly but they'll not know and it will be gobbled up just the same. :) I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!

Just an update on this cake.... (One I'm very proud of!) Taste of Home Magazine will be featuring it in their Dec/Jan 2008 Issue. The WAS recipe and all the How To's will be featured. They did a different filling but they made the cake and photo'ed it and everything. It;'s part of their holiday dessert issue. Just thought I'd share. Enjoy!!

I love this cake and was going to try to do something like it for my family christmas party. What kind of/size brush do you use for your embroidery? And what consistency of buttercream did you use for the holly leaves and the darker green leaves? Thanks!

Thanks! I was so thrilled to have it featured in TOH, They had one sort of misprint/mis-whatever you want to call it. I did this cake after Wilton Course II not after 2 classes. Oh well. :) Thanks again!!
