I wanted to just post my directions here. I don't have a terrible amount of directions since I mostly followed the tutorial on this site. The fondant I use is Satin Ice. I made this cake out of a 12" sq. I usually tort my cakes more, but for this I just filled in b/w the 2 cakes. Then I followed the directions on the tutorial. I found the center of each side of the cake and measured in the 1 in. and put a toothpick, then I carved out the cake by following the pics in the tutorial.

on

I iced my cake on one side and then put a round cardboard circle on that side and then flipped it over (When I flipped it, I stuck it on a bigger round board, so the little cake circle and board were touching). Since I wanted my cake to have pushed down buttons, I cut out 9 small divets or holes for the buttons and finished up icing it. Then put it in the fridge to firm up. Roll out the fondant and get the cake out of fridge. I flipped over a gumpaste tub for the cake to sit on while I covered it. I put a s

on

I put a spatula in between the boards and got my hand under the small circle board. I lifted it up and put it on the upside down gumpaste tub. I put the fondant over it and very very quickly used scissors to cut off most of the bulk that was hanging over the edge. You only need about 3 in. left hanging to tuck underneath. I used a fondant smoother to push and smooth from the center of the cake down over the edges. I then tucked the cake underneath by pushing the fondant under each side of the cake

on

cake and smoothing it with my hand. The hardest part of all was the corners and I just used my hand to curve them under. I had extra fondant at the corners that I cut off with scissors as I tucked it under. Then as soon as I was done with tucking it under I put a blob of royal icing on the bigger round board, took the cake off the top of the gumpaste tub, and placed it on the big board. I worked quickly again at this point to get the button areas done. I used a ball tool and my pointer finger to push in the

on

areas where the buttons were going and then I used a slender tool (comes from the green wilton set of gumpaste tools) to make the crease marks in the pillow. Then, I made the buttons by rolling a ball of fondant and pressing it somewhat flat. Then adhere the buttons with a bit of water to the pillow. I finished up using the clay gun to make the tassels and the braided rope around the sides. I adhered with a bit of RI. Then I took another piece of fondant and rolled it into a ball and pressed down again to

on

make the lg. buttons over the tassels. I pressed a silver dragee into each button. I finished up by Luster Dust with NU Silver Luster Dust. For the Tiara, I just followed the directions in the tutorial for RI tiaras and then added disco glitter dust in purple mixed with a little vodka to the spots that I wanted to have glittered up. Sorry I don't have any templates for the tiaras, I just did them freehand. THE END :D

on

I would LOVE the instructions to your pillow cake..I would SO LOVE to make this for my Grandaughter..I think I will buy the tiara though..One step at a time for Seniors..lol..Thank you.. 8)
