It is traditional to eat apples dipped in honey on Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) and honeycake is also a tradition. These two cakes combine the traditions. Both the "apple" and "honeypot" are honeycakes filled with chocolate ganache and covered in fondant. The "honey" is piping gel. I've learned a lot since these two cakes!
very nice...you should enter this in the contest...if it's not to late...
What amazing detail! Nicely done!!
Great work!! Thanks for sharing that tradition with us. Very interesting~
Thank you for the comments ladies. Obviously, the date should be September 2004. I can't seem to post a photo without at least one typo in picture or description. Darn....
how did you get the apple variating green and red?
The fondant itself was tinted green. Then I mixed both green and red "paint" by adding wilton color to a couple of Tablespoons of vodka with a little powdered sugar to give it a bit of body. I used the red and green paints with a little brush and also blotted with a paper towel in some spots until the apple looked something like the real one I had as a model.
very very cool, I learned something new!
Very cool! : )
