Victorian Fantasy

Victorian Fantasy on Cake Central

This is the cake I entered in the County Fair this year. First time doing most everything; draping, making roses petal by petal, making a mold for the jewelry, lace wrap..... these are fondant covered dummies 6, 8, 10 and 12". Skirt and doily cover are fondant, roses and jewels are gumpaste. Inspired by and some replication of a cake by Kerry Vincent.

WOW! This cake is gorgeous! What a lot of detail and it's all stunning! Congrats on the blue ribbons! Well deserved!

Thank you everyone, JanetPlanet they were stenciled petal by petal amd hand painted with gold. The skirt was also hand stenciled on each of the 12 pleated panels.

Forgot to add that I neglected to make something for the topper so used a shoe from my "Just the Right Shoe" collection. I will be entering the cake in the Decorating Contest this Saturday so will make another rose for the top.

Thanks everybody!! You make me feel soooo good!! Yes homecook, this was inspired and somewhat replicated from Kerry Vincent's cover cake on the Feb/Mar 2007 issue of ACD. I mentioned that in my post but neglected to mention it on my pics!!

My gosh...did they not give a Grand Champion award????? Surely there wasn't a cake that placed higher than yours?????

absolutely gorgeous job! LOVE IT! I didn't understand how you do the bottom (when I read ACD). You did an amazing job!

Bakenboi, sorry I didn't see your question. The rose petals are stenciled individually with Avocado and Shrimp Luster dusts mixed 50/50 with Super Pearl and then there were ribbons in the stencil as well which were dusted with Super Gold.
