Red And White Birthday

Red And White Birthday on Cake Central

Well, my first dissapointment with a cake. Not at what what I had envisioned but seemed I had problems at every turn and had to improvise to correct things where I could. Done for a friend for her sister's birthday. The sister was born on Christmas day, but she didn't want anything overtly "christmassy".

You shouldn't be disappointed. The cake is beautiful. The colors are great, the bow is perfect and the detail of the scrolling on the bottom is a great touch!

It's very neatly done. I think it looks great. I know how you feel though. I've been disappointed with some cakes I do but they turn out to be peoples favorites.

Thank's so much for the great comments. To clarify, I was dissapointed because I had set out to make the "open box" with the tissue flowing out (first attempt), but I ran out of fondant. Doh. That's why the swirls don't come to the top of the bottom layer, I figured it would be covered with the tissue. Then I tried to do a chocolate loopy bow but that failed miserably and by that time I didn't have time to do a fondant loopy bow so I just did this one. It looks ok, just not what I planned.
