Christmas Ornament Cake Balls

Christmas Ornament Cake Balls on Cake Central

Couldn't find the mini ball pan anywhere in town so I just made cake balls and covered them with MMF. Worked pretty good and was fun decorating. Thanks to all the previous ornament artists for the beautiful idea. They loved these at our church dessert this weekend.

Totally amazing! No need to reply. I think it was a great idea and bite sized of yumm! I made rum balls (real rum) a couple weeks ago and they are almost gone. I keep in freezer

What a cute idea! Cake balls come through again! How difficult were they to cover with fondant? Can you share any tips? How did you make the gold tops?

I cut the fondant into a triangle for each and it wrapped quite easily. No icing was needed. As for each hanger top (thingy), I made a small ball of gumpaste and smashed it into a circle about 1/2 inch wide, used tip 4 to cut a center out, pressed lines for texture around the center, and then draped it over a larger tip to shape into a cup. It only takes a few minutes to firm-up. Then made a snake of gumpaste and cut short piece to create the hook. After the hook firms-up it can be stuck into the top

Actually it was quite easy. Just cut the MMF into a triangle and wrap. I measured the cake ball first and then made each side of the triangle the same length.

LOVE these! Love that they are actual spheres, how totally cute. Hope everyone ate them and didn't think they could hang them on their trees

These are really cute! What a great idea to do them as cake balls! I didn't have the mini-ball pan either for mine--I made my own molds. But maybe I'll steal your idea and do cake balls!! :D

these are great! And the idea of covering with fondant is so appealing to me b/c I've had NO luck with making chocolate look nice. Well done!
