Serving Sizes

Serving Sizes on Cake Central

Posting as requested regarding whether Wilton's serving sizes are realistic. From left to right - 2x2x4in, 1.5x2x4 and 1x2x4in blocks. I use these for consultations, and when people can see just how big these slices are, they hardly ever choose the 2x2x4in! Hope this helps someone.

For parties I'd say the 1.5in size, for weddings, nearly always the 1in, unless it's going to be served as the dessert, then they tend to go for the 1.5in. Hope that helps!

bonjovibabe, this is a fantastic idea, i had done the same but with cardboard, but they're very hard to keep them in one piece. This is soooo much better. Looking for a carpenter now ; )

That's a really cool idea! I think a visual like that would be very helpful for consultations. How did you make them?

They are just blocks of wood cut to the stated sizes (my OH got the carpenter guy at work to do this for me!), then I painted them up very simply with acrylics and sprayed them with clear varnish.

This is a good visual. I can't imagine a 2x2 of a layered cake other than a torted sheet cake. That's a huge serving in a layered cake!

Thanks for posting this! Is it okay if I print it out and show it to a potential wedding cake customer that I'm meeting with this week?
