Had to give these a try. Regular cupcake with Wilton half ball on top. Covered with rolled buttercream and hand painted. Tons of fun and really pretty easy.
These are half balls sitting on standard cupcakes (in gold papers). Even sitting on the plate, you can hardly see the bottom cupcake because the half ball is about 1/4" larger all the way around.

They are absolutely beautiful. They look like they belong on the tree - not like they are food!
These look beautiful!. I would hate to eat it. Was it very time consuming?
Hey, you. Great Job!! Are they smooth all over? What do they sit on to keep them stable? I guess I'm asking what the bottom looks like.
These are great. A great gift idea!!

These are amazing!!! when you say you used the Wilton 1/2 ball - do you mean the mini balls?
Perfect! They are beautiful!
Someone needs to make a CC article on how to make these! Yours are perfect! Also love that cake plate they are on ;)

these look so great!! how were you able to make your rolled buttercream not look so shiny? I have made it before and it always comes out so shiny....
I found that the shine decreased when I "buffed" them with a cornstarch rub and then dry dusting with luster dust.
These are absolutely GORGEOUS! Ten million times better than the ones I did. The painting on of the trees is incredible! Automatic favorite! :D
