I love doing the basketweave, but can't figure out the right consistency for roses. I haven't taken a Wilton class or anything, so I still get crazy over consistency. Comments definitely welcome! I need all the help I can get. You guys are full of information!! That Hershey kiss method is what got me through this cake!

you haven't taken a class and you did this. WOW! this is so pretty. what is the hershey kiss method?

The Hershey Kiss method is using a kiss on the rose nail, instead of the icing as the center. The kiss is so stable that you just start the rose like you normally would, except when you eat them ... you get an even nicer treat. I'm a mess when I have to make roses, so having a stable base for them at least makes me less crazy :)

Your basketweave looks GREAT! But I don't understand how you make the roses without the kisses showing? Do you leave the foil on them?

You use the kiss as the base. I find that most times my icing isn't firm enough to make roses ... so for beginners this gives you a solid base to build your rose around. Pretend the kiss is the very first step, where you make the ball. Once I learn to control my consistency better, I might try roses that are all icing again :) Thanks for looking :)
