50Th Anniversary

50Th Anniversary on Cake Central

My first cake of large size. I did this for my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. The tiers are 6, 8, 10, and 14" with the the 8 and 14 being single layers and the 6 and 10 being double. My first time using luster dust, which was really fun! The dots were supposed to be dragees but the ones I ordered looked far too yellow next to the scrolls, so I painted royal dots with luster dust. I was really happy with the outcome and my grandparents loved it!

Wow, that is beautiful! I love scroll work, I'd love to learn that. Very pretty...I'm sure your grandparents loved it!

Thanks so much. Yes, I did the roses using 50/50 mmf and gumpaste, then dusted with luster dust and finally gilded the edges with luster dust paint.

Your cake is beautiful! How did you get the luster dust to show up so well? Where do you get luster dust paint?

mommom, I just piped the scroll work on with white royal icing and used old gold luster dust mixed with rum to make my own "paint"
