Pokemon Birthday Cake
My 4 year old is totally into Pokemon and insisted on a pokemon cake for his birthday this weekend. This cake took 12+ hours to create. Less than 5 min to demolish! It was totally worth all the effort for the smiles on his face. Each character on the side is a separate frozen transfer. Black runs really bad, so I was able to limit this problem by gently placing a paper towel every 10 min to absorb the beads of condensation to make a crisper image.
Great cake! How did you get the images flush with the icing?
Each of the side images and the ENTIRE top of the cake are buttercream transfers. The background is part of the transfer. That's how I've done them since I learned the technique b/c I (personally) prefer the flush look. It was very time consuming applying/blending/smoothing the 12 transfers on the side, but so worth it for the look on my 4 y/o's face when he saw "his" cake :)
Wow! Very impressive and looks so professional!
Thanks. I've never considered my work "professional" since I'm so new at this. It is fun though
It was definitely worth it. It looks great!
WOW! Great Job, yuur forsting looks very smooth. How many transfers in all?
Thanks. 12 pokemon on the side and then one LARGE transfer for the top.
Wow!! Wonderful job!!
Very good job! Your transfers look great! That IS a lot of work.
very nice...i thought they were edible images...great job on the transfers.
GREAT JOB:)
Awesome!!! Did you get the transfers from a coloring book or something?
Actually, I found a pokemon site online and downloaded the graphics from there and re-sized them to what I needed. Thanks.
Very awesome! It's flawless.
My boys would love this!
Well, I wouldn't exactly say "flawless". Thanks though. Like any "artist", I can see where all the errors are. Esp where the black ran and I had to work to fix it.
Take a bow, you deserve it !!!! This is awesome.
What a lucky kid-you put alot of effort and it shows. Good job.
Sheila, Its Just Amazing!! I love this Cake!!! Girl I know your Son was Flipping out over His Birthday Cake!
Thanks SweetCreations. Yes, he was quite enthusiastic about it. Got tons of photos of him w/it too! I can't wait to start the next cake in a few weeks!
I can't even tell that the black was running. You did a great job fixing it.
