Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime on Cake Central

My son wanted a truck cake for his birthday, and after seeing Transformers, he decided it had to be Optimus Prime, leader of the good guys. This was baked in the Wilton angel food loaf pan with a slightly carved front. My first time carving a cake, so I was a little nervous about hacking away too much. If I had to do it again, I would outline the trailer with a darker color to define the edges, and outline all the flames in black instead of white--but my son hates the black taste, so that was his call.

I really like this - can you tell me more about the construction, what you used for wheels, pipes, etc... ? Thanks :)

Truck is on a board cut just wider than the cake. It is resting on stacks of post it notes to elevate it so the Oreo wheels were the right height. Stacks are plastic dowels glued on with icing. I pulled a Duff and put sparkler candles inside the stacks and lit them for the party.

Love this cake! I was looking for the angel food loaf pan on Wilton website, but don't see anything like that. Is the pan you used the same as a regurlar loaft pan or is it more like the Wilton Long Loaf pan. Thanks so much can't wait to try it!

This is dynamite cake! If you don't mind I would love to use your cake as inspiration for a cake I am making this weeked. Could you PM me with howyou carved it? I love the wheel wells! It makes it look so real. I also wanted to get you opinion on possibly using air mist for the flames on white icing!!
