Square, With "wings"

Square, With "wings" on Cake Central

I really like it when the Client tells me flavor, shape and number of servings then says I can do whatever I want. So this time, I had the opportunity to try something a little different, and the whole group loved it. They wanted their colors of burgundy and green, and some hearts. The "collars" were royal icing plaques. The roses were buttercream as was the rest of the icing. It's not like anything else in my albums, which is why I like it so much.

Honestly, I don't have any pattern for the wings. They were something I saw in a cake book I got off e-bay in 2005 and just had to try to do them. I customized one on graph paper and just re-sized from there. The vines and rosebuds were freehanded at the site when I set up (obviously I didn't travel with the wings in place! LOL) I have to admit, I was a bit appalled when I discovered the Bride & Groom had NO cake topper. Argh!
