Thank you! I split the ply on a cheap paper towel and gently press the bumpy side (inside of the sheet) on smoothed buttercream until I get the texture I like. This turkey was airbrushed and then sprayed with a mixture of hot water and dark Karo syrup to make it look like it was just from the oven.

It's my basic white cake. The cake is a sheet cake with 1/2 of the egg pan for the body, small egg pan for the drumsticks.

Oh Wow! - I was looking for ideas for Thanksgiving and this cake is awesome!!!! I'm going to try - not sure if I will succeed - don't have an airbrush - I know you said you sprayed with Karo syrup mixutre - is that the color it comes out - or did you achieve this color from food coloring?

What can I say that no one else has already said? This cake needs to be published in a cake book or something !

The wings are cake and the part that sticks up is a pointed ice cream cone, cut down some.

I had cake scraps that I cut into cubes, placed them on a cookie sheet and baked them in a low oven -250 degrees- for about 30 minutes. Turn them every once in a while with a spatula so they get brown on all sides. You can spray the 'dressing' with the Karo solution, too.
