Hunting For

Hunting For on Cake Central

This one was fun to make; but, we were sitting at the party & all of a sudden I realized I forgot to put "Happy Birthday" on it! LOL! Oh well. Another thing - I meant for the river to run over the side but a friend called & we talked while I was doing the sides; I proceeded to put camo right over the spot on the side where the stream should have been. Tee hee! Oh well again! This really was fun to make. I didn't stress over it ONE TIME! Now THAT is a miracle! LOL! Need to perfect the camo technique still.

THIS IS PRECIOUS! I am so impressed! Love it, love it, love it. I might have to copy this some time. Where did you get the man/deer/trees? Did you use cake to build up the rock around the stream or is that just icing? :-)

Thanks, everyone! You make my day with your kind words! The man/deer/trees came as a set from a local cake store. The rock is cake crumbs mixed with BC similar to making cake balls. I formed it on wax paper and put it in the freezer 'til the last minute, put it on the cake, and finished the BC. VERY easy!

Cakeyladey: The deer, man, trees and F&S sign came as a set from a local cake store for about $6. My son picked it out (this was his cake). :) Thanks for your kind words!

coumpy: It is a 9 x 13. For the camo I just drew areas into the crumb coat with a toothpick and then filled in with BC. I was on the phone and let it get too dry before doing the Viva papertowel on it; that is why it looks rough. So, don't wait too long if you want it smooth. :D

I LOVE this cake! Love it, love it, love it! The camo on the sides is a GREAT idea! I just made a hunting cake using the trees and the elk, but wish I had seen this cake first so I could have used some camo. I should have consulted you first!!!
