Draped Hydrangea Cake

Draped Hydrangea Cake on Cake Central

5 tiered cake covered in fondant with fondant drapes...oh my. We got to the CC and found 22 Hydrangea stems and 75 roses, Bride wanted very small amounts of green showing, and the front 5 sides of the Hexagon shape got filled in, but there actually wasnt enough flowers to fill in the back area. We had mentioned that to the Brides mom about having the cake in the corner of the room and we were glad! It took about 1 hour to do all flower taping and placement.

lovely flowers to cover where the swags meet is the secret! HAHAHA...We had to do the drape on the top cake twice, since we left the fondant too thick and it pulled away from the cake...that was a mess, pulling the fondant covering the cake away with it. It was the first time with drapes, so we followed the directions on the back of the 5 LB. Wilton Fondant box, and it seemed to work fine..attached it with meringue powder and water.
