Christopher's Backyardigans Cake

This was a cake for my 3 year old son. It was directly inspired by Aaris's beautiful cake in the gallery. It's a 5" and 9", but the bottom tier should have been larger because Tasha and Uniqua kept falling off! I posted a closeup of the figurines (all MMF) in the 3D gallery.

how long did it take you to model all those figures? I have to do them for a party in December, and I want to know how hard they were.

Sculpting took probably 45 min - 1 hour each, once the fondant was made and colored. Some of them were more intricate than others. I really would have liked to have made Uniqua's overalls, but by that time I'd just lost my oomph. Also, I bought all the Backyardigans beanie babies for my son for Christmas, and I used them as models.

Wow these are too cute. I just did a backyardigans cake. I was so lazy I did the faces only with them peaking over a fence. I am so impressed!!

Adorable. My daughter expects not only the Backyardigans but "their houses, the backyard, the table with the umbrella and a unicorn (???) made out of icing."
