Hot Dog Cake
This is my first attempt at a sculpted/3D cake and the 5th cake I decorate. I cheated quite a bit. I bought the cake (madeira) because I only wanted to try the decorating part as I am a fairly confident baker. I also used frosting from a can to cover the cake underneath the fondant. The "bun" is too dark but I can't for the life of me achieve flesh color! Other than that, I am pretty happy with the way the cake turned out. It is a cake from Carol Deacon's "Perfect Party Cakes Made Easy".
great photography of the cake!!!....Yes,I too use Wilton's copper ,a tad to get a nice flesh color...great work!!!
this is cute as can be!!
For your first time, I think you did an awesome job.
Your cake is fabulous!
You did a great job!! It's a good idea to cheap if you just want deco practice! No sense all the extra work! Flesh color is hard to achieve. I use Wilton copper color and only use a little bit at a time. :D
Wow, for your fifth cake it is amazing, very professional looking. Agreed with the use of copper - just a tiny tiny bit!
This is great! Hot dog looks a little burnt...just like I like them!
good job :D
I think it looks great! The bun is great - it's toasted, very fancy!
You did a wonderful job!
