No real technique on the icing, Just use a small spatula with thin icing for the top, then use a small plastic scraper (used for spackle I guess, found at Target) for the sides. Whatever doesn't look perfect I fill in and smooth with a paint brush.
Great job on the string work...that is my next hurdle. I am sure I will pic it up....also wanted to ask what your icing technique is for your cakes. Do you to the upside down method...ect???
