Scripture Cake
I just finished this one today for a children's class at church. Their challenge was to bring their scriptures with them every week to church, and this was their reward! The theme was to "feast upon the word of Christ." LOL! This was my first time making chocolate fondant and using gold lustre dust. The lettering was a little hard to get right, so I had to try a few different ways, but now I've got it!
Sorry, it's kind of fuzzy!
How did you do the lettering? It looks great!
My goodness, Book of Mormon and everytrhing that goes with it! All that's missing is the name embossed on the front cover! Nice job!
Very Nice! Since I love books, this is my kind of cake!!! How did you do your writing?
That's great!
that is awesome! you did very well...looks so real!
Thanks! I took a really tiny paintbrush and dipped it in some gold lustre dust mixed with mint extract. I tried imprinting the words with a toothpick first, but that didn't work. The tiny paintbrush was the best way I found. :) Apparently you have to use a clear alcohol-based extract, (not artificial) or it won't evaporate right. The mint extract kind of made the whole cake smell minty, but with Chocolate, it turned out kind of nice!
Hey APCakes...RULDS2? Great cake! It is so beautiful! I'll have to give this one a try sometime!I bet the kids loved it! Oh... I use lemon extract with my luster dust. The smell isn't strong and is pretty nice.
You sure have "GOT IT " The cake is just great! A truly nice reward!
How did you get the pages effect? I use lemon extract when painting with luster dust - it has an alcohol base that works really well too. Great work.
That is just perfect!! What an awesome job you did .. Congrats on a beautiful cake!!
Hmm, maybe I'll try lemon extract next time - thanks! I did the pages with that little triangle comb. Hey peacockplace, yep, I'm LDS too! :) The best part of my life, with my family and cakes! Ha ha!
Fantastic! I just saw this wonderful cake! I'm LDS also. :- )
