beautiful cake.. how did u get your icing so smooth?

For this cake I used a buttercream that is half butter and half shortening. It doesn't crust, so after frosting, I put it in the fridge for about 10 minutes to get the butter in the frosting hard and then I use a hot knife (drywall) on it to get it smooth. (Dipped in boiling water and then wiped off)

The flowers are gumpaste (hydrangea) and the booties were made with the JEM lifesize bootie cutters (red)

They are hydrangea blossoms and colored with petal dusts.
