While my niece was visiting last week we decided to do a little baking. She loves monkeys, and saw several cakes on this site that inspired her. The cake is just an 8" round, and we cut out ears from a paper plate and frosted them, then stuck them in the sides of the cake. Not the most durable plan, but the ears lasted long enough for her friends to see it. That's all she really cared about. LOL
