Jess' Shower Cake
White cake with embossed buttercream and dragees, fondant tissue paper and fondant covered styrofoam lid. Gumpaste bow and edible image on fondant gift tag with Celtic design. Thanks to Fairytale and KimAZ for their help on how to support the lid - I ended up using white chocolate on top of the dowels.
Very pretty and elegant . . . one of my new favs! ;-D :D
It's so pretty! Great Job! How did you support the lid?
It's just beautiful. Wonderful job!
This cake is gorgeous. Can pm me how you did the lid?
I found Fairytale's instructions. Will try it someday too.
absolutely beautiful
Thank you everyone! I used dowels cut to the height I wanted the lid and brushed the tops of the dowels with white chocolate before placing the lid. The chocolate "glued" the lid in place.
Lovely cake, beautiful job. Did you use cake for the lid or styrofoam?
gorgeous!
Thank you! Karenelli - the lid was styrofoam.
Very clean looking. Very nice.
wonderful job on this!!!! I just love it...really like the addition of the lid edging too..finishes it off really nicely...The quilting pattern is fabulous on this too!!
This is so pretty. You did an excellent job!
Beautiful! I love everything about it!
Excelent!! Please, tell me how you did the tissue paper? Thank you.
Thank you everyone! I ran the fondant through the pasta machine to make it very thin then shaped it with tissue until it dried.
Gorgeous! Your tissue paper is so realistic!
Very nice cake! So you dried the tissue paper before placing on the box??? The shape for the tisse is square and then you fold right?? [email protected]
the "tissue paper" was run through the pasta machine until very thin then left to sit for a couple minutes. Then I bunched it and/or folded it up and let it dry a day before using it. The pieces were square and rectangle.
