In album: dancing
I made this cake for a friend's daughter's 5th birthday. The mom requested a maypole cake with girls dancing around it. I tried to use Cakes by Nancy's idea for the ballet dancers, still need some practice. The cakes are covered with buttercream and MMF, the girls are cupcakes with MMF and maypole is a chopstick covered with MMF. All the girls at the party loved it!

very pretty.......can't help but be a little freaked out......I just watched that movie "wicker man" and they told about may poles and what they're all about......freaky stuff man! LOL Anyhow.......you did a great job on this cake......is that odd to order a may pole for a little girl's birthday?

Thanks :) The mom had a maypole cake for her third birthday and thought it would be nice to do it for her daughter's too. I don't think she had any idea what the maypole dance symbolized ...a fertility dance. Also, thanks to everyone who gave me ideas for this cake!

the maypole wasn't necessarily the freaky part........just the whole movie surrounding it........sorry.......I don't want to offend.......this cake is gorgeous!!! I love the fact that you made the girls on cupcakes ( I never would have thought of that) genius!
