Birthday Cake

Birthday Cake on Cake Central

This is straight from Wilton's 2007 Yearbook. I made this to share with my neighbor when I found out we both shared the same birthdate--today! This is the biggest cake I have ever made! It was the first time I ever used Satin Ice fondant, and everyone loved the taste better than my previous MMF cakes. Hmmm. . . The Satin Ice worked beautifully, but I am still needing much more practice at covering the cakes. I see lots of issues. LOL

I followed the exact instructions found in the Wilton yearbook. I baked in 2, 8-inch round pans that are 2 inches tall. Satin ice is the brand name of the fondant I used. HTHs

wow is right! How on earth did you stack that? I have not tried stacking-I am afraid it would fall--yours is great! Love the colors!

Thank you to all of you! This was also my first try at stacking a cake and adding a center dowel. I was worried, but I put dowels in the green and pink tiers before stacking. The cake is so heavy that I was worried it would topple over when it is moved, so I also put a center dowel down the middle to give me some peace of mind.

I loved this cake when I saw it in the Wilton yearbook and I love it even more now that I see your version. It looks wonderful!! Did you put cake boards under each 2 layer cake?
