Belly Cake

Belly Cake on Cake Central

My first attempt. If I had more time I would have remembered to put in a belly button. I think it turned out okay considering my time restraint.

of course! I've seen a few on CC and this is my version. Good luck with it....it was fun and not as hard as I anticipated. :)

What kind of bowl did you use, how did you get the belly so round? I love the cake and want to do something similar for my sister baby shower. Please share your tips!!!

jess0419, I just used a large oven-safe mixing bowl for the belly....after icing it all with buttercream icing and rolling out the fondant, I layed it over and shaped the fondant before I cut around the edges. I ended up folding the edges under at the straps to make it look better.

Did you use homemade cake? How full did the bowl need to be? How did you know how long to bake it? You are AMAZING!

Thank you...No, I used a cake mix. I filled it just enough so it wouldn't overflow while baking (used almost 2 boxes for the size bowl I had) and I baked it for almost an hour, then checked it every 10 to 15 minutes until it was done.
